ICSI Treatment in India
Understand when ICSI is recommended and how it fits into an IVF cycle.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) injects a single sperm directly into each mature egg during IVF. It is mainly used when sperm count, movement, or shape is significantly reduced, when sperm is retrieved surgically, or after previous fertilisation failure. For couples without male-factor infertility, routine ICSI has not been shown to improve live birth rates.
ICSI is regulated as assisted reproduction under India's ART (Regulation) Act, 2021. Confirm the clinic's registration and your eligibility before travelling.
Questions for your consultation
- Why is ICSI recommended rather than conventional IVF?
- If sperm retrieval is needed, which procedure is proposed?
- Is genetic counselling recommended for the male partner?
Cost of ICSI Treatment in India
An individual estimate needs a defined plan and provider review. Ask for a written breakdown rather than comparing package names alone.
- ICSI laboratory charge added to the IVF cycle
- Surgical sperm retrieval such as TESA or micro-TESE if required
- Embryo freezing and storage
Confirm what is included, quotation validity, possible additional charges, and cancellation terms. Allow separately for accommodation, travel, local transfers, coordination fees, and care after returning home.
Recovery and follow-up planning
ICSI follows the same timeline as IVF for the female partner. If surgical sperm retrieval is planned, ask about recovery time for the male partner.
